Distinguished Lecturer – The Future of PoE and Smart Energy Transfer Technologies
March 24 | 1:15 - 1:45 PM
- Ken McKinney - Principal Engineer, UL
One of the fastest growing technologies mentioned in NFPA 70®, National Electrical Code®, is the use of communication cables to deliver power. With the explosion of the Internet of Things, the use of these cables is changing. People have come to expect power and interconnectivity in ways only Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology can achieve. In addition, Smart Energy Transfer systems utilizing technologies like Packet Energy Transfer (PET), is are poised to revolutionize power distribution far beyond PoE’s capabilities. In this session, attendees will learn how PoE is being deployed and how intelligent power transfer systems can be used to safely deliver even more power over longer distances.
